Use the delta explorer

The delta explorer reads provider changes into inspectable execution branches. Complete local setup and Graph application authorization first.

Terms and panels

A stream has one scope: mailbox folders, one folder's messages, or Outlook master categories (labels). An execution is one provider read round. Folder/message streams use delta continuation. Continue uses their returned link. Replay requests their saved link again as another branch. Outlook labels use full pulls instead, as described below.

The left panel lists streams and offers folder/message delta, Outlook-label pulls, and Whole mailbox. The middle panel shows execution trees, states, result counts, and ROOT, DELTA_LINK, or REPLAY inputs. The right panel offers Response, Request, Events, Differ, and Lineage.

Paging and continuation

For folder/message delta streams, @odata.nextLink pages belong to one execution. The service follows them automatically. The final @odata.deltaLink supplies the next delta round. Paging does not create separate branch nodes.

The sequence starts with scope selection and execution creation. It then requests Graph pages, saves the final link, normalizes state, and displays the response/differences. Graph URLs must target HTTPS graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/.

The request helper allows up to three attempts for supported throttling/service-unavailable responses. It honors bounded inline waits. A Retry-After longer than 30 seconds returns control instead of keeping the request waiting inline.

Outlook label full pulls

OUTLOOK_CATEGORY streams use STANDARD_PULL. Every run starts from the fixed outlook/masterCategories collection and follows all response pages. It stores no reusable delta or continuation link. Continue/Replay delta semantics do not apply. The comparison parent is the latest successful full pull. Failed pulls do not replace that baseline.

Read-only catalog access requires Graph Application permission MailboxSettings.Read and tenant administrator consent. See Graph permissions.

The category differ normally identifies an item by its trimmed NFC-normalized display name, with provider ID as fallback. A color change is Changed. A rename is a removal of the old name and addition of the new name. See category comparison.

Whole mailbox

Whole mailbox first reads Outlook labels, then refreshes the folder stream. It identifies active folders and updates their message streams in parallel. It gives wider coverage but uses more resources and can increase throttling. Prefer a single folder when isolating a problem.

A replay is a new provider read, not a guaranteed historical replay. See differ semantics before interpreting a branch.
