Set browser profiles and default workspaces

After signing in, open Desktop settings → Browser profile on the bottom taskbar. Name this browser, choose its default saved workspace, or revoke a registration. Names you enter remain unchanged when the application language changes.

Startup and reset

A new tab starts from the browser's default saved layout with layout autosave off. Valid recovery for the same tab takes precedence. Changing the default does not move the active desktop.

Reset reads the default again and preserves unsaved content in open editors. Explicit Load reads the current named workspace.

Revocation preserves saved layouts and current editor content. A revoked ID cannot enroll again. A new registration requires an explicit action. Losing site data creates a separate profile. Workspaces stored on the server remain available.

Storage and concurrent edits

Profiles use the actor-owned mailgen_user_settings.settings.workspaceBrowsers JSONB namespace. A profile describes a browser registration, not a mailbox login. See identity concepts.

Initial local identity allocation uses a Web Lock and rereads the stored UUID. Concurrent tabs therefore share one browser profile. Network enrollment occurs outside that lock. Without Web Locks, fresh allocation stops with a visible error. An existing durable ID remains usable. Storage failure preserves the in-memory identity and desktop and offers a separate retry.

Metadata edits compare revisions and lock the actor's settings row. After a conflict, the interface displays fresh metadata without automatically overwriting it. The limit is 100 records, including revocation tombstones. Unknown storage versions cannot be overwritten.

For same-origin GET requests without Origin, the server selects a configured public origin from Host. A Host without a port must match exactly one origin. Internal HTTP proxy addresses and forwarded headers do not establish browser identity. The server rejects an explicit foreign Origin.

A browser default references an actor-owned named workspace. Sync groups deliver separate saved copies. Editing profile metadata neither publishes a layout nor moves another active desktop.
