Arrange mail and contact windows
Open a composer, separate conversation reader, or contact window after signing in and selecting a mailbox. These windows share layout controls. Restore minimized windows from the bottom taskbar.
Placement
Choose two or three columns, two rows, a 2:1 main-panel/sidebar split, or a four-cell grid. Double-click a title bar to maximize and restore. Drag toward an edge for half-screen or quarter-screen placement. Drag near the top to open the layout picker. Release at the top edge to maximize.
Placement uses space above the bottom taskbar. Browser resizing keeps windows within the visible area. Small panels scroll internally. The mobile composer uses the full available view.
Keyboard and retained content
Use Shift+Alt with arrow keys instead of the Windows key. Up/down moves between maximize, restore, and minimize. Left/right selects the corresponding half. Shortcuts pause in dialogs. Escape exits a drag preview.
Minimizing retains content. Placing a window in an occupied slot moves the previous occupant elsewhere. Conversations and drafts remain bound to their own mailboxes.
A single list click changes the shared preview. Double-click or Pop out creates an independent reader whose content does not follow later list selection. See independent readers and desktop recovery.
