Share saved layouts across selected browsers

Open Desktop settings → Manage sync groups on the bottom taskbar after registering a browser profile. Create or edit a group and select its browsers and workspaces. Changing group metadata does not publish a layout.

Publish and load

Save layout, or enabled layout autosave, publishes to groups that contain the current browser and workspace. With autosave off, no automatic publication occurs. One save increases the canonical revision once and atomically sends the same snapshot to every selected group.

In Available saved snapshots, Refresh saved snapshots refreshes metadata only. Load snapshot explicitly applies the selected copy. A remote save does not move an active desktop. Mounted editors retain unsaved content. Unavailable or locked windows receive separate restore states.

The browser default references the latest canonical saved layout. This workspace management access is independent of filtered group delivery. Valid same-tab recovery takes precedence. An older group copy does not silently replace the canonical default.

Access and concurrent changes

workspaceSync is a versioned JSONB namespace in the actor's settings. The server checks the current session and actor permission for group and delivery requests. A browser ID is a selector, not a credential. The server requires the correct origin, live profile, membership, and workspace association. Unselected browsers receive no delivery. The server rejects revoked profiles.

Metadata writes compare revisions. Publication checks the canonical workspace revision under the shared settings row lock and saves all requested copies in one transaction. A later ordinary save without groups does not change previously published copies. After content hydration, the server checks membership and exact envelope identity again.

On conflict, the interface preserves the local layout and asks whether to overwrite the remote state. It checks the latest revision before applying that decision. Another change requires another approval. You can instead load the remote state. Offline retry retains the original browser and group target. It does not change profiles or become an ordinary save.

Recovery

An API or metadata error preserves the active desktop. Use Refresh saved snapshots to read current state. Removing a group does not delete named workspaces or editor content.

Loading an older copy retains its revision, so overwriting a newer canonical layout requires a conflict decision. The publication pause is recovery metadata, not snapshot content. It survives reload and cross-session recovery until an actual local layout edit. Loading, restore normalization, and reload alone do not publish the copy.
