Set workspace Island mode

Open Settings → Appearance after signing in. Island mode controls whether workspace panels appear as separate surfaces. It defaults to on.

Turn the switch off for continuous surfaces without island borders, rounded corners, or shadows. Calendar gaps also close. Turn it on to restore separate panels and the theme's spacing.

The current settings panel exposes one switch. It does not expose independent horizontal or vertical pixel controls. Panel spacing follows the application's layout styles.

This changes appearance without changing messages or chats. If a policy locks the setting, ask the administrator who manages your settings permissions.
