Synchronization states
Microsoft reads can run in parallel. The queue applies changes in order within each mailbox. A webhook records a durable hint: a saved notice that something changed. Delta reconciliation then reads provider changes to update the local mailbox copy, called its projection. See Microsoft Graph setup before configuring this connection.
MailGen records a requested change as a durable operation. Thus, the accepted request survives a process restart. accepted means that MailGen accepted the request. awaiting_confirmation means that provider confirmation remains outstanding. Check the final result in Sync Center. Queue acceptance does not prove a Microsoft change.
An expired or invalid delta checkpoint starts reconciliation. Temporary provider failures can cause delayed retries. A locked mailbox or missing encryption key can block work that needs content.
For a failure, give the operator the operation ID, state, and safe error code. A full database or storage reset is not a normal recovery step.
Background-work terms
Read accounts and confirmed changes for actor and mailbox identity. The following terms explain the saved execution path:
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Canonical state | Authoritative state for a particular step. Provider reads establish remote content. Saved local operations establish accepted work |
| Projection | A local copy derived from authoritative data, such as mailbox rows or search documents |
| Durable admission | Saved signed proof of the accepted action, actor, resource, and original payload |
| Outbox | Saved delivery records. Pending entries wait for publication. Some paths also retain entries as publication mirrors |
| Lease | Temporary processing ownership, or temporary key access, depending on the feature |
| Fencing | A check that prevents an expired worker or older attempt from changing current work |
For example, accepting a move stores the request. The provider must then apply it. The operation must also meet its confirmation condition. The first stage alone does not prove the message reached its destination.
An admission is not a reusable login credential. Execution checks the original action and payload. Mailbox authorization also explains current provider-source and visibility checks.
