Where MailGen stores mail
MailGen stores mailbox metadata, folders, operation states, and synchronization checkpoints in PostgreSQL. Message bodies and attachments live in object storage. The search index holds additional data for search. See the onboarding storage reference for object keys and tables.
The app login identifies a signed-in person. The actor is the application identity that requests an action. A connected account binds that actor to a provider mailbox. The mailbox has its own internal UUID and provider identity. These identifiers are not interchangeable.
A database backup does not include object storage or the personal private key. Preserve all three when moving a deployment. Encryption does not replace backups. The configuration archive guide covers configuration and secrets, not a complete mailbox backup.
